Overview

Cayo Perico is a fictional Caribbean island used as the setting for The Cayo Perico Heist, a GTA Online operation centred on robbing the private estate of drug lord Juan Strickler, better known as El Rubio. The island combines a tropical holiday resort, a working smuggling facility and a heavily defended private compound. Its public-facing image is that of an exclusive party destination, but most of the island exists to support El Rubio’s criminal operation.

Unlike Los Santos and Blaine County, Cayo Perico is not a persistent free-roam district that players can visit whenever they wish. It is accessed through the heist’s reconnaissance and finale systems, with the island’s available activities changing according to the current progression state. During Gather Intel, players explore the island to photograph the primary target, discover optional loot, inspect access points and identify useful equipment. During the finale, the same broad layout becomes an infiltration map with active guards, cameras, patrols, alarms and locked facilities.
