Overview
Maze Bank Arena is a large sports and entertainment venue in La Puerta, Los Santos. In Story Mode it is chiefly important as the setting for the main mission Fame or Shame, during which Michael De Santa and Trevor Philips enter the arena to confront television host Lazlow Jones after Tracey De Santa auditions for the reality show. Outside that mission, the building is primarily an exterior landmark rather than a fully explorable public interior.
The arena is presented as the home venue of the Los Santos Panic basketball team and as a location used by the television programme Fame or Shame. Its naming suggests a commercial sponsorship arrangement with Maze Bank, the financial corporation that also owns Maze Bank Tower, although the game does not provide a detailed corporate history for the venue.
In GTA Online, the building gains a much larger gameplay role through the Arena War update. Players can buy an Arena Workshop, customise specialised vehicles and participate in arena-based adversary modes. This is a major difference from Story Mode, where the arena is not a purchasable property or permanent combat venue.

Parachuting from the top of this building, as well as landing a helicopter on the roof are some of the activities that motivate players to interact with this building. Other skyscrapers that are in the video game further beautify this area of the city center and create the impression of the player being in a big American city. A little further south of this building is the Maze Bank Arena, based on the Crypto.com Arena, which is a multi-purpose indoor arena. It opened in 1999 and has hosted a number of sporting, musical and other events. It is home to one of the most famous sports teams in the world, the Los Angeles Lakers basketball club (Crypto.com Arena, 2024). Although this arena, like the rest of Los Angeles Convention Center, is a significant tourist attraction, in the video game Maze Bank Arena doesn’t have that much significance. Aside from its appearance and size, this arena doesn’t have much of an impact on the single player experience.
