Overview

Sandy Shores is a small, failing desert settlement on the southern shore of the Alamo Sea in Blaine County. It lies at the northern edge of the Grand Senora Desert, between Senora National Park, the Alamo Sea and the wider desert road network. The town is one of the principal locations of Trevor Philips’ storyline and serves as his home, his criminal base and the setting for several of the game’s most memorable missions.

Its apparent simplicity is deceptive. Sandy Shores includes a broad spread of trailer parks, derelict holiday buildings, roadside businesses, public services, the Alamo Sea shoreline and the Sandy Shores Airfield. The town’s wider recognised area also includes land south of the railway, including much of Senora National Park. East Joshua Road marks the conventional southern edge of the settlement, but the local area extends beyond the built-up streets.

Sandy Shores is deliberately presented as a former resort town that has collapsed into poverty, drug production and neglect. Old motels, empty swimming pools, a ruined marina and fading tourist signage suggest a more prosperous past. The Alamo Sea’s pollution, the spread of methamphetamine production and the town’s isolation all contribute to its decline.
