Del Perro Pier

Del Perro Pier is a coastal amusement pier in western Los Santos, built out over the Pacific beside Del Perro Beach.

Importancemajor

Key takeaways

  • Del Perro Pier is a landmark within Del Perro, not the whole district Del Perro Beach lies to its north-west and Vespucci Beach lies to its south-east. The pier acts as the dividing structure between the two beaches.
  • Pleasure Pier is the amusement-park section on the pier Its most prominent rides are the Ferris Whale and Leviathan roller coaster.
  • The main Story Mode visit occurs in Daddy’s Little Girl Michael and Jimmy cycle from Vespucci Beach to the pier, where Michael dives into the ocean to reach Tracey’s yacht.
  • The pier is freely explorable after it first becomes available You can walk, drive, cycle or approach from the water, although individual buildings and stalls are mostly decorative rather than fully enterable.
  • One Letter Scrap is associated with the pier It is located on the balcony of the seafood restaurant identified in collectible guides as Pearl’s Seafood.
  • GTA Online expands the pier’s gameplay use It appears in activities including Pier, Del Perro Pier Survival, Pier Pressure and the race Pier 2 Pier, although the exact availability of some activities depends on the mode, update and playlist.

About this guide

Scope: Grand Theft Auto V, with GTA Online differences labelled where they materially affect the location. This guide treats Del Perro Pier itself as the main landmark, including the Pleasure Pier amusement park and the pier’s built structures. It does not silently expand the subject to the whole of Del Perro, Del Perro Beach, or Vespucci Beach, although those neighbouring areas are covered where they provide access, context or mission connections.

Overview

Del Perro Pier is one of Los Santos’s most recognisable landmarks: a brightly lit recreational pier extending into the Pacific from the Del Perro coastline. It combines a seaside amusement park, tourist facilities, food outlets, viewing areas, games, decorative shops and a large public promenade. The amusement park is branded Pleasure Pier, while the wider structure is generally called Del Perro Pier. That distinction matters because Pleasure Pier is a sub-area and attraction within the pier rather than a separate coastal district.

In Story Mode, the pier is more than scenery. It is the setting for a major sequence in Daddy’s Little Girl, a location used during The Third Way, a useful place to test vehicles and boats, and one of the more atmospheric sightseeing locations in Los Santos. It also contains a Letter Scrap and can be explored freely before or after its main story appearance.

The setting is a close recreation of California’s Santa Monica Pier, with Pleasure Pier drawing heavily on the real-life Pacific Park amusement park. The game reproduces the general arrangement, colourful rides, entrance plaza, pier office and tourist-facing architecture, but uses fictional businesses and names.

Included subareas

Pier entrance and parking approach

The landward entrance is reached by following Red Desert Avenue towards the coast. The road curves towards the pier parking area, allowing vehicles to approach the structure rather than merely stopping at the beach road. There are also pedestrian stairs and side approaches, making the pier accessible on foot from the beach and surrounding roads.

Main promenade

The central promenade contains the pier’s most obvious tourist dressing:

Most of these are environmental details rather than fully functioning businesses. Their purpose is to make the pier feel like a working tourist attraction rather than to provide a complete shopping district.

Pleasure Pier

Pleasure Pier is the amusement-park component of Del Perro Pier. Its large rides dominate the skyline and provide the landmark’s strongest visual identity. The park contains the Ferris Whale and Leviathan, along with smaller attractions and carnival-style facilities.

The name can be confusing. The amusement park is called Pleasure Pier, but the complete structure is commonly referred to as Del Perro Pier. In practical navigation, both names point to the same visible destination, but Pleasure Pier is the narrower name.

Seaward end

At the far end of the pier are the pier office and viewing areas. This is the most useful point for orientation during Daddy’s Little Girl, because Michael and Jimmy cycle towards the end of the pier before the mission changes from a bicycle sequence to the yacht rescue.

The outer end also provides good views of:

Adjacent structures

The pier contains or is associated with several small buildings and service structures. Some are recognisable as offices, public facilities or restaurant buildings, but the game does not make all of them enterable. A visitor’s centre, public bathrooms, a pier office and police-related buildings are visible in the environment. The presence of a building should not be treated as proof that it offers an interactive service.

---

By road

The normal road approach is Red Desert Avenue, which leads towards the pier entrance and parking area. This is the most straightforward route for a first visit because it deposits the player near the entrance rather than at an arbitrary beach access point.

From central Los Santos, use the Del Perro coastal roads and follow signs or the map marker towards the beach. The surrounding road network connects with the Great Ocean Highway, Boulevard Del Perro and other Del Perro streets. These roads belong to the wider district, not to the pier itself, but they provide the main approach routes.

On foot or by bicycle

The pier can be reached from the beaches by walking or cycling along the shore or using the stairways and paved approaches. This is the intended route during the opening section of Daddy’s Little Girl, in which Michael and Jimmy rent bicycles near Vespucci Beach and race towards the pier.

For free-roam exploration, cycling is particularly convenient because the promenade is compact, the roads are congested and many of the best views are easier to reach without a car.

By water

The pier is accessible from the ocean. Boats, jet skis and Seasharks can approach from the open water, although the shallow water near the beach and pilings can make landing awkward. During Daddy’s Little Girl, Michael jumps from the pier and swims to Tracey’s yacht before escaping on a Seashark.

Water access is also useful for taking photographs of the amusement rides from offshore and for approaching the pier without passing through the entrance plaza.

By air

Helicopters can land or hover near the pier, but the crowded structure, ride equipment and surrounding beach make it a poor landing site. A helicopter is more useful for obtaining an overhead view than for precise transport.

The following names and structures are verified as part of the pier or its immediate landmark complex.

Pleasure Pier rides

Ferris Whale

The Ferris Whale is the large Ferris wheel at Pleasure Pier. It is one of the two signature amusement rides and is among the most recognisable objects on the Los Santos coastline. The ride is primarily a visual landmark in Story Mode, although fairground rides are available as an activity in the game.

Leviathan

Leviathan is the pier’s roller coaster. Its track and support structure make it easy to identify the pier from a distance. Like the Ferris Whale, it is a prominent attraction and a useful navigation landmark, even when the player is approaching from Del Perro Beach or the ocean.

Decorative businesses and storefronts

The wider Del Perro and Del Perro Beach directories include many businesses near the coast. They should not all be counted as pier businesses. A broader Del Perro directory lists outlets such as Del Perro Gifts, Del Perro Pier Food Market and Del Perro Pier Surf ’N’ Stuff, while Del Perro Beach also includes several nearby beachside businesses.

For the pier itself, the reliable distinction is:

---

Del Perro Pier has no permanent named resident comparable to a protagonist safehouse occupant or business owner. Its population is made up mainly of visitors, tourists, beachgoers, performers, vendors, joggers, cyclists and ordinary pedestrians.

The pier is deliberately crowded during the day. Pedestrians may:

At night, lighting becomes one of the pier’s defining features. The bright ride lights and colourful signs contrast with the dark ocean and make the pier easy to spot from Del Perro Beach, Vespucci Beach or the air.

There is no established gang territory on the pier in Story Mode. Random hostility can still occur because of player actions, mission scripting, traffic collisions or a wanted level, but the pier is not presented as a gang-controlled location.

Daddy’s Little Girl

Daddy’s Little Girl is the pier’s major Story Mode appearance. It is given to Michael by Jimmy and begins at the De Santa residence in Rockford Hills. Michael and Jimmy travel to Vespucci Beach, rent bicycles and race towards Pleasure Pier. At the pier, Jimmy points out Tracey on a yacht offshore. Michael then dives into the water, reaches the boat, confronts the people with Tracey and escapes with her on a Seashark.

Gold Medal advice

For the bicycle section, avoid cutting across crowds or clipping the stairs and railings. Winning the race is not the main difficulty, and careful riding is safer than trying to force a narrow shortcut.

For the swimming objective, swim efficiently rather than repeatedly surfacing. Improving Michael’s stamina can make this section easier. Once aboard the Seashark, maintain speed and avoid being thrown into awkward turns by the waves. The mission guide specifically recommends travelling parallel to the shoreline to reduce the effect of larger waves while accelerating.

Missability and replay

The pier is not permanently altered or locked after the mission. You can revisit it in free roam. However, the yacht confrontation, mission dialogue and scripted pursuit are tied to Daddy’s Little Girl and cannot be recreated as a normal free-roam encounter once the mission is complete.

The mission also contains temporary scripted characters and vehicles, including Tracey, the yacht occupants, Freddy Slade, Blake and the pursuing Seasharks. They should be treated as mission participants rather than permanent pier residents.

Mission route

  1. 01
Travel with Jimmy to the Vespucci Beach bicycle-rental stand.
  2. 02
    Select a bicycle.
  3. 03
Race Jimmy along the coast towards Pleasure Pier.
  4. 04
Reach the end of the pier.
  5. 05
Watch the conversation that reveals Tracey’s location.
  6. 06
Swim from the pier to the yacht.
  7. 07
Take Tracey and escape on the Seashark.
  8. 08
    Lose the pursuing boats.
  9. 09
    Return to shore.

The Third Way

In the Deathwish ending, The Third Way, Trevor travels to Del Perro Pier in pursuit of Steve Haines. The pier is used as one of the story’s late-game confrontation locations, linking the landmark to the final campaign sequence.

This appearance is different from Daddy’s Little Girl:

Meltdown

Del Perro Pier is associated with the aftermath of Meltdown in some location summaries, but the mission’s active objectives take place around the premiere, Michael’s family and the De Santa residence rather than turning the pier into a conventional mission interior or combat arena. The pier connection is therefore best treated as story context or a post-event scene reference rather than as a full mission level.

Letter Scrap 19

One Letter Scrap is placed at Del Perro Pier. Collectible guides identify it as Letter Scrap 19, located on the balcony of the seafood restaurant associated with Pearl’s Seafood.

How to find it

The scrap contributes to the larger Letter Scrap collection. It is not required to unlock the pier itself, and it does not create a permanent business or reward at the location. The significance comes from completing the complete set and following the associated mystery.

Practical search advice

The restaurant fronts and amusement-park dressing can look similar, especially at night. If the scrap is not immediately visible, search the upper balcony rather than the ground-level food stalls. Do not confuse this collectible with the separate Letter Scrap at Vespucci Beach inside the skate and bike bowl.

---

How to find it

  1. 01
Enter the pier from the landward approach.
  2. 02
Walk along the main promenade towards the restaurant buildings.
  3. 03
Look for the seafood restaurant with an accessible balcony or upper-level exterior.
  4. 04
Climb or walk onto the balcony.
  5. 05
Collect the Letter Scrap from the balcony area.

Fairground rides

The Ferris Whale and Leviathan are the pier’s most obvious recreational activities. Fairground rides at Del Perro Pier are listed among the game’s optional pastimes, and guides specifically identify trying the Ferris Whale or Leviathan as an exploration activity.

These rides are best treated as leisure content rather than money-making activities. They are useful for:

Wildlife and photography

The pier and surrounding beaches are useful places for coastal photographs, boats, people and dogs. The pier itself is not a dedicated wildlife challenge location, but the adjacent Del Perro Beach car park can produce dog-related encounters in the enhanced version, according to location guides. That is a Del Perro Beach feature rather than a pier feature and should not be counted as part of the pier’s fixed content.

GTA Online: Pier

Pier is a Rockstar-created team deathmatch set around Del Perro Pier. Its match description highlights the parking lot, al fresco dining areas and carnival games as combat spaces. The activity is listed as a four-to-twelve-player deathmatch with one to four teams and a Rank 20 unlock requirement in the referenced activity directory.

The deathmatch changes how the pier is used:

Availability can depend on the current GTA Online job-selection system, playlists and platform version.

GTA Online: Del Perro Pier Survival

Del Perro Pier also appears as a Survival location in GTA Online. This is separate from Story Mode’s free-roam exploration and should not be treated as an enemy population permanently installed on the pier. Enemies and weapon drops are created by the activity instance.

GTA Online: Pier Pressure

Pier Pressure is an Online mission associated with the Del Perro area. It is distinct from the Story Mode pier sequences and should be treated as GTA Online content rather than evidence that the Story Mode pier contains a permanent gang operation. The wider Del Perro directory lists it among the area’s Online mission appearances.

GTA Online: Pier 2 Pier

Pier 2 Pier is a long-distance race activity that starts at Del Perro Pier, takes the player around Los Santos and finishes back at the pier. The activity’s route makes the landmark both a starting grid and a return checkpoint.

---

The pier’s immediate road connection is Red Desert Avenue. The wider Del Perro area links it to:

The complete Del Perro road directory includes names such as Bay City Avenue, Eastbourne Way, Equality Way, Hawick Avenue, Liberty Street, Magellan Avenue, Marathon Avenue, Playa Vista, San Andreas Avenue and Sandcastle Way. These are part of the wider Del Perro road network, not all roads on the pier itself.

Nearby connections

Del Perro Beach

Del Perro Beach lies on the north-west side of the pier. It is quieter and less crowded than Vespucci Beach and provides a good walking route to the pier from the north.

Vespucci Beach

Vespucci Beach lies beyond the pier to the south-east. It is the beach used as the starting area for the bicycle sequence in Daddy’s Little Girl. The two beaches can feel like one continuous coastal strip during free roam, but they remain separately named areas.

Del Perro neighbourhood

The wider Del Perro district contains the Prosperity Street Promenade, Del Perro Plaza, hotels, apartments, commercial buildings, the Del Perro Police Station and other landmarks. These should not be folded into the pier directory simply because they are nearby.

---

The pier is normally a low-threat sightseeing location in Story Mode. Its main hazards are environmental and player-created:

The Del Perro Police Station gives the area a visible law-enforcement presence, but the building does not function as a special security mechanic. A wanted level is handled through the normal Los Santos police system.

In GTA Online activities, the pier can become substantially more dangerous because enemies, rival players and combat objectives are introduced by the job or mission. These threats are activity-specific, not evidence of a permanent hostile faction controlling the landmark.

Short sightseeing route

This route covers the principal structures without mixing in the wider Del Perro shopping district.

Short sightseeing route: steps

  1. 01
    Approach from Red Desert Avenue.
  2. 02
Park near the entrance rather than driving deep into the promenade.
  3. 03
    Walk through the visitor’s-centre area.
  4. 04
Follow the main promenade past the food stands and games.
  5. 05
    Inspect the Pleasure Pier rides.
  6. 06
Continue to the seaward end and look back towards the coast.
  7. 07
Return along the opposite side, checking the restaurant balconies for Letter Scrap 19.

Story-focused route

This gives the clearest sense of how the mission uses the landmark’s geography.

Story-focused route: steps

  1. 01
    Start at Vespucci Beach.
  2. 02
Use a bicycle if you want to reproduce Daddy’s Little Girl.
  3. 03
Follow the coast towards the pier.
  4. 04
Race or cycle to the end of the pier.
  5. 05
From the end, face offshore towards the yacht route.
  6. 06
After exploring, return to the beach and approach the pier from the water in a Seashark.

Completionist checklist

---

Del Perro is based primarily on Santa Monica, California. Its name is likely a joke connected with Santa Monica’s association with “Dogtown”, while the overall coastal architecture and lifestyle parody the affluent, tourist-focused Los Angeles shoreline.

Del Perro Pier itself is a near-direct recreation of Santa Monica Pier. Pleasure Pier draws particularly strongly from Pacific Park, including the colourful amusement-park presentation and prominent Ferris wheel. The pier office, visitor facilities and surrounding buildings also echo real Santa Monica structures.

The landmark’s narrative function matches this inspiration. It is simultaneously:

That combination is why the pier works so well in Daddy’s Little Girl. Michael’s attempt at ordinary father-and-son bonding begins in a crowded recreational space, then escalates into a yacht chase and a public confrontation.

Roads serving the surrounding area

---

Is Pleasure Pier a separate location from Del Perro Pier?

No. Pleasure Pier is the amusement-park section located on Del Perro Pier. The wider pier includes its entrance, promenade, businesses, service buildings and outer viewing areas.

Can I enter all the shops?

No. Many storefronts, restaurants, public facilities and stalls are decorative or have restricted mission access. The pier is designed primarily as an explorable landmark rather than a fully simulated shopping centre.

Is Del Perro Beach part of Del Perro Pier?

No. Del Perro Beach is a separate neighbouring beach area. It is included in this guide only for boundary, access and collectible context.

Where is the Letter Scrap?

It is on the balcony of the seafood restaurant associated with Pearl’s Seafood, listed as Letter Scrap 19. Search the upper exterior balcony rather than the ground-level promenade.

Can I repeat the yacht chase after Daddy’s Little Girl?

Not as a normal free-roam event. The yacht confrontation and pursuing Seasharks are scripted mission content, although the pier, surrounding water and ordinary boats remain available afterwards.

Does the pier have a permanent gang presence?

Not in ordinary Story Mode. GTA Online missions and adversarial activities may place enemies there temporarily, but those are job-specific scenarios rather than a permanent faction occupying the landmark.

Is the Ferris wheel called the Ferris Whale?

Yes. Ferris Whale is the in-game name used for the large Ferris wheel at Pleasure Pier.
