Overview

South Los Santos, often shortened to South LS, is the southern urban district of Los Santos in Grand Theft Auto V. It is the part of the city most strongly associated with Franklin Clinton, Lamar Davis, the Families, the Ballas and the Vagos. It is also one of the game’s most important story regions, despite being geographically smaller and less commercially polished than Downtown Los Santos or Rockford Hills.

The district is not simply “the Grove Street area”. In the game’s regional hierarchy, South Los Santos is a broad district containing the neighbourhoods of Chamberlain Hills, Strawberry, Davis and Rancho. The area’s wider southern edge meets industrial and port districts, including Banning and the Port of Los Santos, but these should not automatically be treated as part of the core South Los Santos neighbourhood group. Some location references describe Banning as part of South Los Santos, while the South Los Santos district page identifies the four neighbourhoods above as its principal subdivisions.

Its streets combine low-rise housing, apartment projects, small businesses, rail and river infrastructure, underpasses, workshops and gang-controlled corners. South Los Santos is therefore best understood as both a residential district and a social boundary: it sits between central Los Santos, the industrial south-east and the airport and port corridors.
