Overview

Rancho is a neighbourhood in South Los Santos, occupying the city’s south-eastern urban belt. It is not simply the area around the Rancho Projects. The neighbourhood includes a much broader mixture of low-rise homes, small businesses, gang-controlled streets, the large Rancho Projects housing complex and the distinctive Rancho Towers, the in-game counterpart to the Watts Towers. Rancho borders Strawberry to the north, La Mesa to the north-east, Cypress Flats to the south-east and Davis to the west.

Rancho is particularly important for the presence of the Los Santos Vagos, who control most of the neighbourhood. The Varrios Los Aztecas have a smaller presence in the northern section and are less commonly seen. Rancho therefore functions as both a residential district and a recurring gangland setting, especially in GTA Online content involving repossessions, drug deals and lowrider disputes.
