Overview

Strawberry is a working-class neighbourhood in South Los Santos, immediately south of the central city. It is one of the most important early-game areas because it is Franklin Clinton’s starting home, a base for several early missions and a major contact point between the Families, the Ballas and the wider Los Santos criminal economy. Although the southern streets are associated with gang activity and poverty, the northern edge becomes noticeably more commercial and urban as it approaches Pillbox Hill, Mission Row and Downtown Los Santos.

The district is easy to overlook because it has no single spectacular landmark comparable with the Maze Bank Tower or the Vinewood Sign. Its importance comes from its concentration of mission locations, gang territory, transport links, hidden collectibles and later GTA Online properties. The area also demonstrates one of GTA V’s recurring contrasts: a neighbourhood presented as a difficult place to escape, yet positioned within a short drive of Los Santos’ financial centre.
