Key takeaways
- West Los Santos is a regional grouping, not one neighbourhood Its named child areas are Del Perro, Del Perro Beach, Little Seoul, Morningwood, Pacific Bluffs, Richman, Rockford Hills, Vespucci, Vespucci Beach and Vespucci Canals.
- The Pacific Ocean forms the western boundary, while the region’s eastern side meets central Los Santos districts and the southern industrial and airport areas.
- Rockford Hills is the principal Story Mode residential centre, containing the De Santa family home and several character-linked locations.
- Vespucci and its beach and canal subareas are the main leisure and pedestrian-exploration districts.
- Del Perro is a useful transport and activity hub, especially because the pier and beach connect the inland city to the coastal road network.
- West Los Santos is mostly accessible from the start of Story Mode, although individual interiors, activities and mission areas depend on character progression.
About this guide
Scope: Story Mode in Grand Theft Auto V, with clearly labelled notes for GTA Online where the area’s use differs. Status: Research draft. The regional boundaries and named neighbourhoods are supported by area indexes, but a complete building-by-building directory, every decorative storefront, and every mission spawn would require direct in-game verification or a larger set of child-area sources. The guide below therefore distinguishes confirmed entries from useful but not fully exhaustive observations.
Overview
West Los Santos is the broad western half of Los Santos, stretching from the city’s central districts to the Pacific coast. It is not simply another name for Vespucci Beach or the rich neighbourhoods around Rockford Hills. In the commonly used GTA V regional hierarchy, it includes a chain of distinct neighbourhoods: Del Perro, Del Perro Beach, Little Seoul, Morningwood, Pacific Bluffs, Richman, Rockford Hills, Vespucci, Vespucci Beach and Vespucci Canals. The region is characterised by middle-class housing, wealthy residential districts, commercial streets, beaches, canals, marinas and entertainment areas.
The western coastline gives the region its strongest visual identity, but its eastern edge reaches into dense urban Los Santos. Little Seoul and parts of Rockford Hills are very different from the promenades and canals of Vespucci, while Richman and Pacific Bluffs provide a quieter, more affluent contrast. Treating all of these places as one “beach district” misses much of what makes West Los Santos useful for navigation, missions and exploration.
What counts as West Los Santos?
The most useful boundary definition is the regional one used by Grand Theft Wiki: West Los Santos is the western portion of the city and consists of ten named neighbourhoods. These are not all equal in size or function. Some are broad neighbourhood labels, while others identify smaller coastal districts inside the same urban area.
Included neighbourhoods
This list should not be expanded merely because a nearby place feels culturally or geographically western. For example, Los Santos International Airport, La Puerta and the Port of Los Santos are western or south-western landmarks, but the available regional listing does not place them within West Los Santos. They are best treated as neighbouring areas unless a source or in-game district label explicitly assigns them to the region.
Likewise, Downtown Los Santos, Pillbox Hill, Mission Row, Strawberry and Textile City are close to the region’s eastern edge but are separate named areas. The broader GTA V area index lists them independently from West Los Santos and its child neighbourhoods.

Practical boundary guide
In play, the boundaries are easiest to understand as a series of transitions:
---
Practical boundary guide
| Name | Details |
|---|---|
| North | Richman and Pacific Bluffs give way to the countryside and western Los Santos County. Tongva Hills and other rural areas are nearby, but they are not part of the city region. |
| East | Little Seoul and the inland side of Rockford Hills approach central Los Santos. The exact transition is more useful as a neighbourhood change than as a hard physical wall. |
| South-east | Vespucci and Del Perro connect towards La Puerta, the airport approaches and the southern freeway network. |
| South and south-west | The coastline continues towards the airport and port districts, which should be kept separate from West Los Santos. |
| West | The Pacific Ocean is the natural limit, with the coastline running through Del Perro, Vespucci Beach and the canal district. |
Del Perro
Del Perro is the inland and coastal urban district associated with the large pier and the broad beachfront below it. It is one of the most recognisable parts of West Los Santos and acts as a transition between the commercial city, the beach and the northern coastal road.
The area is useful for orientation. If you can see the pier, you are near the boundary between the more built-up Del Perro streets and Del Perro Beach. The district is also a good starting point for travelling north towards Morningwood and Pacific Bluffs or south towards Vespucci.
Named entries
Status notes: Del Perro Pier is a landmark and activity location, not a general-purpose shopping centre. The beach is accessible, but access to particular interiors or mission areas depends on the activity involved.
Named entries
Del Perro Beach
Del Perro Beach is the sandy coastal strip around the pier. It is a public leisure area with pedestrians, joggers, beach equipment and open space. It is more useful for sightseeing, random encounters and movement than for Story Mode progression.
The beach also provides a comparatively safe way to travel on foot between Del Perro and Vespucci. Driving directly along the sand is possible in many places, but it is slower than using the coastal roads and can attract unwanted attention if the player collides with pedestrians or police vehicles.
Named entries
The exact names of individual beach kiosks and decorative businesses are not consistently recorded in the available regional sources, so they are not presented as a verified directory here.
Named entries
Little Seoul
Little Seoul is the eastern, denser side of West Los Santos. It is a commercial and residential district with a strong urban character, more traffic and less open space than the beachfront. It is especially useful as a connection point between western neighbourhoods and central Los Santos.
The area should not be confused with the whole of West Los Santos. Its streets are city-facing, while Vespucci and Del Perro are much more strongly associated with the coast.
Named entries
The streets listed above are navigation references rather than a claim that every one lies entirely inside the neighbourhood. Several roads cross district boundaries.
Named entries
Morningwood
Morningwood is a wealthy western district north of Del Perro and west of the central residential areas. It is associated with upscale housing, broad roads and commercial frontage. The district is a useful route between Del Perro, Rockford Hills and the Pacific Bluffs area.
Named entries
Morningwood is primarily a scenery and navigation district in Story Mode. It does not function as a separate progression hub in the way Michael’s house or the Mission Row Police Station does.
Named entries
Pacific Bluffs
Pacific Bluffs lies on the northern coastal side of West Los Santos. It is a more secluded and affluent area, with cliffs, ocean views and large properties. Its visual identity is less urban than Little Seoul or Vespucci, but it remains part of the city’s western residential belt.
Named entries
The country-club area is an important visual landmark, but Story Mode should not be assumed to provide ordinary public access to every building there. Mission-specific access, restricted grounds and decorative interiors must be distinguished from general exploration.
Named entries
Richman
Richman is one of the city’s wealthiest districts. It occupies the inland and northern side of West Los Santos and contains large homes, gated properties and landscaped roads. The neighbourhood is best explored by vehicle, although its hills and private-looking driveways make it a good place for slow sightseeing.
Named entries
Richman and Richman Glen are separate named places in broader GTA V area indexes. Richman Glen should therefore not be silently merged into Richman when maintaining a location directory, even if the two areas appear continuous during ordinary play.
Named entries
Rockford Hills
Rockford Hills is the most important Story Mode neighbourhood in West Los Santos. Michael De Santa’s family home is located here, making the district a recurring base for domestic scenes, character switching and several missions. The area also represents the game’s parody of wealthy Los Angeles suburbs and shopping districts.
Rockford Hills is not purely residential. It includes commercial streets, expensive-looking shops, landscaped public areas and nearby institutional or entertainment locations. Its main practical value is that it sits between the rich northern districts and the denser central and coastal streets.
Michael’s house
Michael’s house is a functioning Story Mode safehouse. It provides a save point, wardrobe access and vehicle storage appropriate to the safehouse system. The property is available as part of Michael’s storyline rather than being bought by the player.
The house is also a recurring mission location. Players should avoid treating it as a permanently private area during active objectives, because scripted events can change access and character placement.
Named entries
Vespucci
Vespucci is the broad coastal neighbourhood south of Del Perro. It contains mixed residential, commercial and leisure spaces and is one of the busiest pedestrian districts in the game. It is inspired by Venice and surrounding Los Angeles beach communities, although the game’s road layout and building placement are fictionalised.
Vespucci is best understood as the parent area around Vespucci Beach and Vespucci Canals. Those two places have their own identities and should be retained as separate directory entries.
Named entries
Vespucci Beach
Vespucci Beach is the promenade and beach district. It is one of the most reliable places in Story Mode for finding pedestrians, cyclists, joggers and recreational activity. It also provides a long, open route for vehicles, bicycles and foot travel.
The beach is useful for character-specific activities, random encounters and general exploration, but not every visible building is enterable. The presence of a branded frontage or a recognisable shop sign does not by itself prove that the building supplies a service.
Named entries
Some of these are functional activity spaces rather than conventional shops. Their availability can vary by mode and activity state.
Named entries
Vespucci Canals
The canals are a smaller residential and leisure district within the wider Vespucci area. They are characterised by narrow waterways, bridges, footpaths and expensive-looking homes. They are a good place to explore on foot, but vehicle navigation is awkward because many paths are too narrow or disconnected for normal cars.
The canals are also a useful example of why region, neighbourhood and landmark should not be collapsed into one label. “West Los Santos” is the broad region, “Vespucci” is the wider neighbourhood and “Vespucci Canals” is the specialised subarea.
Named entries
The available research confirms the canals as a named neighbourhood-level place, but not a complete set of individually named homes or businesses.

Main road approaches
West Los Santos is easy to reach from almost every direction.
From central Los Santos
Use the western end of the central road grid and follow routes towards Little Seoul, Rockford Hills or Vespucci Boulevard. This is usually the fastest approach when starting near Downtown Los Santos, Pillbox Hill or Mission Row.
From the south
Approach through La Puerta and the airport-side roads, then continue north-west towards Vespucci or Del Perro. This route is useful after missions connected with the airport, docks or southern freeways.
From the north
Richman and Pacific Bluffs connect to Great Ocean Highway and the western county roads. This is the most scenic approach and is convenient when travelling from Tongva Hills or the northern countryside.
Along the coast
The coastal road links Pacific Bluffs, Morningwood, Del Perro and Vespucci. It is slower than the freeway but gives the clearest sense of how the region is arranged.
Recommended exploration route
This route covers the region’s main contrasts without repeatedly crossing the same roads.
---
West Los Santos contains the largest concentration of Michael’s domestic life. The regional resident directory identifies Michael, Amanda, Jimmy and Tracey De Santa in Rockford Hills, as well as a number of side characters associated with Rockford Hills, Richman, Pacific Bluffs, Morningwood, Vespucci and Vespucci Beach.
For a first visit, use this order
- 01Start at Michael’s house in Rockford Hills.
- 02Drive west or south-west through Rockford Hills towards Morningwood.
- 03Continue to Del Perro and stop at Del Perro Pier.
- 04Follow the beach south into Del Perro Beach.
- 05Continue through Vespucci Beach.
- 06Turn inland to inspect Vespucci.
- 07Explore Vespucci Canals on foot.
- 08Finish by travelling east through Little Seoul towards central Los Santos.
Named residents and associated characters
Vespucci Beach
The distinction between residents and visitors matters. A character appearing in a mission or random encounter does not necessarily live in the district. The list above is retained as a regional association directory, not as a claim that every person can be found there at all times.
Rockford Hills
Ordinary NPCs
The region’s ordinary population changes noticeably by subarea:
These are population patterns rather than guaranteed spawns. Time, weather, mission state and player behaviour can affect what appears.
---
Del Perro Pier
Del Perro Pier is the region’s clearest landmark. It projects into the Pacific and can be seen from several inland roads. It is useful as a navigation reference, a sightseeing location and a setting for coastal movement.
Do not assume every pier attraction operates as a full Story Mode business. Some visible venues are scenery or activity props, while other attractions may have limited interaction. The pier’s importance is primarily spatial and visual unless a mission or activity specifically uses it.
Muscle Sands
Muscle Sands is the outdoor exercise area on Vespucci Beach. It provides exercise equipment and beachside activity scenery. It is one of the most recognisable places in the region for observing NPC routines and the game’s exaggerated fitness culture.
Treat it as an activity location rather than a conventional gym interior. The player can use or interact with certain equipment, but this does not make the site equivalent to a purchasable business.
Pacific Bluffs Country Club
The country club is a prominent affluent landmark in Pacific Bluffs. It communicates the social divide between the beach districts and the wealthy northern coast. Access is not equivalent to ordinary public access, and its presence in a mission or scene should not be taken as proof that all of its interiors are freely explorable.
Michael’s house
Michael’s house is the region’s principal usable building in Story Mode. It is a safehouse and recurring narrative location. It is not a purchasable property, and its availability is tied to Michael’s storyline.
Businesses and storefronts
West Los Santos contains many branded façades and shop signs, especially in Rockford Hills, Little Seoul, Del Perro and Vespucci. However, a storefront name alone does not verify a service. For a dependable guide, businesses should be divided into:
The available regional evidence does not provide a sufficiently reliable complete storefront inventory, so this guide does not present an invented list of shops or claim that every visible brand is usable.
---
West Los Santos is more often a setting for missions than a self-contained mission chain. Story Mode objectives use the region for:
Businesses and storefronts
| Name | Details |
|---|---|
| Functional services | shops or facilities where the player can actually buy, customise, save, train or begin an activity. |
| Decorative storefronts | visible façades that cannot be used as ordinary services. |
| Mission-only locations | interiors or premises entered under scripted conditions. |
| Online-only or mode-specific properties | businesses and purchasable facilities added for GTA Online. |
Progression considerations
Most roads and outdoor areas are available from the beginning of the Los Santos portion of the story. The important restrictions are usually attached to:
A location can therefore be physically reachable before it is narratively relevant. Reaching Michael’s house, for example, is not the same as unlocking every event associated with it.
---
West Los Santos does not have a special regional law-enforcement system separate from the rest of Los Santos. Police responses follow the normal wanted-level rules. The main practical hazards are environmental and traffic-related:
The beach is open and easy to traverse, but it is not always the fastest route. Use it for sightseeing, bicycles and foot travel, and use the main roads when speed matters.
Note
Mode note: The regional geography remains broadly the same, but GTA Online adds properties, businesses, activities and mission locations over time.
Sensible exploration checklist
---
GTA Online uses West Los Santos as a major operating area. Players may encounter purchasable apartments, offices, garages, clubs, agencies, shops and mission interiors in or near the region. These additions should not be back-applied to Story Mode.
A business located in Vespucci, Del Perro or Little Seoul in GTA Online does not automatically mean that the same building is a functional Story Mode shop. The same applies to mission-givers, purchasable garages and interiors added through later Online updates.
The online world also begins from a different narrative position. Story Mode’s 2013 campaign and GTA Online’s evolving multiplayer timeline should be kept separate when discussing residents, properties, missions or the state of neighbourhoods.
---
West Los Santos draws heavily on the western side of Los Angeles:
These are inspirations, not one-to-one maps. In-game roads, distances and building positions are compressed and rearranged for playability. Real-world names should therefore be kept separate from canonical GTA V location names.
---
Is Vespucci the same thing as West Los Santos?
No. Vespucci is one neighbourhood within West Los Santos. Vespucci Beach and Vespucci Canals are associated subareas, while West Los Santos is the larger regional grouping.
Is Rockford Hills part of West Los Santos?
Yes. The regional listing places Rockford Hills within West Los Santos. It is one of the region’s most important Story Mode districts because Michael’s family lives there.
Is the airport part of West Los Santos?
It is geographically close, but it is listed separately from the ten West Los Santos neighbourhoods. Treat Los Santos International Airport as a neighbouring south-western area unless a specific source or map label defines the boundary differently.
Is Pacific Bluffs part of the city or the countryside?
Pacific Bluffs is listed as a West Los Santos neighbourhood. It borders the less urban western county areas, but it should not be merged with Tongva Hills, Banham Canyon or other Los Santos County locations.
Can every visible shop in West Los Santos be used?
No. GTA V contains many decorative façades, branded signs and mission-only premises. A business name is not sufficient evidence that the player can enter, buy items or use a service.
Where is the best place to begin exploring?
Start at Michael’s house in Rockford Hills, drive west to Del Perro Pier, then follow the coast south through Del Perro Beach and Vespucci Beach before exploring Vespucci Canals on foot.

The following areas remain insufficiently verified for a claim of complete coverage:
For those subjects, this should remain a draft guide, not a claim of exhaustive completeness. The regional hierarchy and the ten principal West Los Santos neighbourhoods are the strongest confirmed foundation currently established by the researched sources.
